The aim of the business fair was to enable beneficiaries to share their
experiences, products, and services with other beneficiaries and the
larger community, to upgrade the marketing of goods and promote
networks between entrepreneurs at local and regional markets.
Kjartan Björnsson, Head of Operations at the European Commission Liaison Office said at the opening: "With PAMM we have helped many families in Kosovo prevail over poverty. We have worked in the most marginalized municipalities of Kosovo lifting-up the entrepreneurial spirit that people in Kosovo already have, we encouraged and fostered community cooperation and business development, and improved the marketability of goods in your respective municipalities."
The PAMM project of €3.2 m, managed by the European Commission Liaison Office and implemented by the International Organisation for Migration, was launched in December 2006 and provided financial and technical assistance by supporting the start-up of new and existing income generation activities, through grant assistance and business development training.
The project has established around 90 and expanded 120 micro-enterprises through grants of €5,000 – €8,000. It has created 20 larger community development projects and around 750 full-time and part-time employment opportunities. Out of the total number of 231 beneficiaries, 52 were women and 24 from minority communities.
The project created income-generating and employment opportunities among vulnerable groups in the ten targeted municipalities: Sharr, Drenas, Malishevë, Mamushë, Artanë Besianë, Rahovec, Shtime, Skenderaj, and Vushtrri.
