Republic of Kosovo on June 29 becomes member of IMF and World Bank

President and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo on Monday in Washington DC are going to sign the admission papers of the Republic of Kosovo into the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

Kosovo has been supported by 96 for its IMF bid and by 95 countries for its World Bank bid. In total 140 countries voted in both cases and thus eanbled Kosovo to be admited in these important financial organisations.

It is worth mentioning that additional 36 countries from 60 that have already recognized Kosovo have supported the membership of the Republic of Kosovo in the IMF and the World Bank.


During their stay in Washington DC President Sejdiu and Prime Minister Thaci are going to meet separately with Mr. Robert Zoellick, President of the World Bank and with the US Under Secretary of State James Steinberg and the Under Secretary of Finance Eric Meyer.
