307 out of 325 suspended Serb police officers returned to their posts with the Kosovo Police. The deadline for the Serb police to return to work was 16.00 hrs, 30 June.

By the deadline, all but 18 officers had returned. Kosovo authorities said there will be an extension of the deadline for the remaining police officers. “We considered there may be those who had practical difficulties; they might be farther from the police station where they had to report,” said Fisnik Rexhepi from the Republic of Kosovo Interior Ministry.

Daily newspaper, Koha Ditore reports that the suspended-with-pay police officers received 1.3 million euros during a period of 16 months from the time they left their jobs.

While, newspaper Epoka e Re reports that the Serb officers received their salaries until 15 May of this year. However, Interior Ministry officials claimed that the material cost is not what counts compared to the success that the Kosovo Police will have in becoming a multiethnic force.
