UNMIK has officially transformed into a mission focused on treatment of communities in Kosovo, reports daily Koha Ditore.

According to the paper, the end of the reconfiguration process has made UNMIK organize its staff into an office that will exclusively deal with community issues.

“The UN Mission has transformed into a political mission and community issues are an important part of the mission’s role,” UNMIK Spokesperson Russell Geekie told the paper and added that in this context, the mission has organized its capacities into an Office for Support to Communities.

After the declaration of independence of Kosovo, UNMIK transferred all its powers the Government of the new independent Republic.

The UN officials will no longer use the name UNMIK (United Nations Interim Administration for Kosovo )but prefer to use the term UN Mission for Communities in Kosovo, said the UN officials in Kosovo.

I think it would be best if they leave the country for good. They caused more damage & confusion within the Republic of Kosovo than good... I say the people of kosovo should have a massive protest and ask em to leave and never come bk. They are trouble. as long as UN is there, Serbia & Russia will always try and mess things up.. ask em to leave the country, and let the EULEX to run it.. they r doing a great job anyway...

UNMIK is a synonym of FAILURE. UNMIK is a hard evidence of a crack among N.A.T.O members and U.S – E.U disagreement. UNMIK transformed Kosovo in a black hole, where billions of dollars and Euros gets in and disappears. After playing their cards very cleverly and patiently, Russia and Serbia is waiting for KFOR to give up and GO. After, they will act to recreate the so called Yugoslavia or “The greater Serbia”. Balkans and Europe are going to pay dearly, but is going to be too late.
