Kosovo Speaker to visit Finland

Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo, Jakup Krasniqi is to visit Finland with invitation by the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Finland, Sauli Väinämö Niinistö.

Speaker Krasniqi official visit in Finland will be from September 28 to Ocobober 2, where will have bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the Finish Parliament Sauli Väinämö Niinistö, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen and former President of Finland, Nobel laureate Martti Ahtisaari.

During the visit in Finland, Speaker Krasniqi will be accompanied by the deputies, Xhavit Haliti and Ibrahim Gashi, and members of the foreign affairs committee of the Parliament.  

The visit will be an opportunity to deepen bilataral ties between Finish and Kosovar nation and exchange of experience in the Parliamentary institutions.

Finland was among the first nations to recognize Kosovo's independence last year. Its former President, Martti Ahtisaari was the chief architect of Kosovo's independence as he was appointed as a special UN envoy by the UN Security Council and General Secretary. Ahtisaari was rewarded with Nobel Prize for Peace for resolving many conflicts in the world, including Kosovo.
