Kosovo FM and President met with over 80 world leaders

The Republic of Kosovo President and Foreign Minister during their official visit in New York met with delegations of over 80 countries, pursuing an intensive lobbying efforts in increasing the number of recognitions.

Many of the countries have promised to review and expedite the process of recognition for the newborn country, the Republic of Kosovo.

Kosovo Foreign Minister Skender Hyseni met with tens of leaders of Latin America, majority of the member countries of Organization of the Islamic Conference, African Union, Asia and Oceania, which some of the countries have promised immediate response with recognition of Kosovo's independence.

During the visit in New York at UN, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, had a cordial meeting with Slovak Foreign Minister, Miroslav Lajčák.

During the meeting, the main theme was the process of recognitions and specifically the recognition by Slovakia.  
 
Slovak Foreign Minister Lajčák said that Slovakia viewed Kosovo as a sui generis case, and he noted that “we are aware that the process is irreversible.” He assured Minister Hyseni that Slovakia would be assisting in practical areas, and would retain its forces and officials present in KFOR and EULEX.

Kosovo Foreign Minister  met with Amr Moussa, Secretary General of the Arab League. Minister Hyseni talked about the importance of intensifying the recognition process, as well as Kosovo’s membership in international organizations. He also invited the General Secretary to visit Kosovo.
 
General Secretary Moussa said that Minister Hyseni would be welcome at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, Egypt, but he emphasized that individual states had to decide about recognition. Kosovo Foreign Minister also met with Foreign Minister of Egypt, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
