EU offers SAA Dialogue to Kosovo European Commission on its "Kosovo Study" which will be released today has reached an agreement between its members states on a joint engagement with the Republic of Kosovo.

The study which has been seen by the Kosovo daily Koha Ditore, says that Kosovo will face a similar road-map to that of its neighbors but the status and EU membership is not mentioned specifically.

The study says Kosovo has a number of challenges which could be tackled through EU instruments, such as the "consolidation of the European agenda, assurance of a stable socio-economic development and the engagement of Kosovo in regional cooperation, which EU could support." The Commission suggests the current relationship of Kosovo with EU "to evolve in a political dialogue focused on reforms and cooperation."

The meetings with the European Commission will be modeled after those with the candidate and potential candidate states.

The report states that "It is crucial for Kosovo to improve competitiveness, business productivity and strengthen the export sector, infrastructure " suggesting that the Union and Kosovo negotiate on a free trade deals On the education system, EC recommends increase of funds for educational programs Tempus, Erasmus Mundus and Youth in Action.

The Commission will also consider establishing a European Studies department at the University of Prishtina.
