Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi accompanied by Ministers Enver Hoxhaj and Fatmir Limaj, as well as the Norwegian Ambassador, Mr. Sverre Johan Kvale, laid the foundation stone for the construction of two professional schools in Skenderaj and in Malisheva.

In his remarks on the occasion, Prime Minister Thaçi said that the building of these schools in the Municipalities of Skenderaj and Malisheva is taking place as part of the partnership between Norway and Kosovo, and the success they have achieved together, prior to and following Kosovo’s independence.

On this occasion, Mr. Thaçi thanked Ambassador Kvale, his government and the Norwegian people for this investment in Kosovo.

“Norway is our partner in all areas of development and progress in Kosovo. Laying this foundation stone today, to build two professional schools in Skenderaj and Malisheva, is good news for these municipalities and for this area, for the students, and their future, because they will be educated according to the highest Western European standards,” stated the Prime Minister.

“In independent Kosovo, there are new great opportunities and these opportunities are being utilized by the construction of these schools, which will create the room and perspective for greater economic development, so that young people can participate in the job market, and so that we can build and enhance social well-being,” said Mr. Thaçi, adding that this is an important project for the Balkans, coming as a result of the shared commitment of the Governments of Kosovo and Norway.

The Norwegian Ambassador said that Norway’s investment in building professional high schools in Skenderaj and Malisheva is an investment in the future of the country.
“By building professional schools, we are giving young people a chance to find employment, and in this way, they can contribute to Kosovo’s future. This is Norway’s greatest project in the Western Balkans, which is valued at 10 million euros. I hope that these two schools will serve young people in the long-term,” said the Ambassador.

These two schools will be built with financing of 10 million euros from the Norwegian Government and 1.2 million euros from the Kosovar Government.
