Presheva Valley Albanians have no TV in their native language PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 13 November 2009
ImageIt's been almost eight years since the signed agreement between Presheva Valley leadership and Serbia government, mediated by then EU mediator Peter Feith, which foresees larger self-government and cultural autonomy for Presheva Valley Albanians, and unfortunately, so far, nothing has been implemented.

Today, the ethnic Albanians in Presheva Valley face difficulty to get a job, have equal participation in public institutions, education - their post-secondary diplomas are not recognized,  have no daily newspaper, elementary and secondary education is behind any European Union standards for minorities, and have no government-funded TV station in their native language.

Presheva Valley Albanians remain the most discriminated minority in neighboring Serbia, facing no support from any government institutions, lacking of basic human rights to preserve their cultural identity in accordance to the UN Humans Rights Charter.

Unlike in Presheva Valley situation, Serbia's neighbor, Kosovo, has recently initiated to open the first TV station for its Serb minority which is being fully supported and sponsored by the Kosovar Government.

Does EU know? Yes. Does EULEX know? Yes.
Are they doing anything to help those helpless people? No.
Why?
WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO TELL THE TRUTH.
