British low cost airline EasyJet has applied for permission to fly to Kosovo. From June 19, 2010, EasyJet is expected to start flying twice a week initially from Geneva to Prishtina International Airport with the option to expand further in the future.
The growing air travel market in Kosovo, which is plagued by high
prices, will gain strong competition if the Kosovo Government approves
EasyJet's permit.
In markets where EasyJet operates, its strategy has been to offer low prices. In the first three quarters of this year, EasyJet had an income of £2.6 billion and 45.2 million passengers served. EasyJet currently has regular flight in more than 100 cities in 27 European countries. After Air Berlin which started with flights to Swiss and German cities in November, this will be the second major European air carrier to enter the Kosovo market.

... it really is a shame that there are no cheap flights from the UK. It's costing me almost £400 to fly from London to Kosovo that's more expensive than flying to JFK New York. Actions must be taken and quick. Lets hope the government of Kosovo approves this swiftly |

... Haha EasyJet, what an airline! Just a warning to anyone who does use no-thrills airline EasyJet, make sure you get to the airport at least 1 hour before departure otherwise they will screw you over and they will not be held responsible for refunds. As long as you get there early and remember everything, you should be fine and thus avoid the embarrassment from ending up on ITV's Airline. Haha But I am really glad that more and more major European Airlines are flying to Kosovo. This is good for business and tourism. I'm guessing that RyanAir will be the next airline? |
