Kosovo's army aids neighboring Albania

ImageSearch and Rescue Unit of the Kosovo Security Forces has traveled to neighboring Albania in flooded areas in the north, to assist the local population.

Since emergency situation in northern Albania is exacerbated by the floding of recent days, the Albania Government formally requested humanitarian emergency assistance from the Republic of Kosovo's Ministry of Defense.

 
Subsequently, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo has authorized the Commander of the Kosovo Security Forces to engage the Search an Rescue Unit within the Civil Defense Regiment, part of the Rapid Reaction Brigade, with the aim of providing humanitarian assistance to Albania.

Kosovo's army unit with the necessary equipment has traveled to Albania on January 5, whereas it reached in Vau i Dejes hours later the same day.

This is the first time that Kosovo's army is participating in a humanitarian mission abroad.
