Croatia says Serbia should accept the new reality in Kosovo

Addressing the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo, during a solemn session convened in his honor, President of the Republic of Croatia, Stepjan Mesic said his visit to Kosovo was interpreted in different ways. But, he said he came to Kosovo as a friend of all peoples and that this visit was not directed against anyone, but it is in function of strengthening bilateral relations and stability in the region while he reiterated his position that Kosovo is a sui generis and it's independence is irreversible.

Mesic also urged Serbia not to hinder the integration of Kosovar Serbs and invited the country to accept the new reality in Kosovo. "Yugoslav Federation is known publicly that is destroyed by [Serbia] and whose fault that is destroyed. The wheel of history will not come back later and neither with Kosovo "Mesic said.

Mesic was also the last President of Tito's Yugoslavia and he has been one of the strongest outspoken supporters of Kosovo's independence.

Architecture of this region, according Croatian is completed and the entire region should be integrated into the European Union. "Now the question is just what some countries certain speed will join the EU", said Mesic.

On Friday President of the Republic of Kosovo, Fatmir Sejdiu has decorated President of the Republic of Croatia, Stjepan Mesić with the Golden Medal of Independence, while later he was declared Honorary Citizen of Prishtina by the City Municipal Assembly.

Mesic is expected in Pristina with high state ceremony. He has also held separate meetings with Prime Minister Hashim Thaci and President of the Assembly, Jakup Krasniqi. He also visited Croatian soldiers in KFOR, and Croatian community living in the town of Janjevë.
