Skender Hyseni, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo held a warm and very productive meeting with the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, during his visit to Washington, D.C., where he was participating in the traditional “Prayer Breakfast”. Despite the presence of a large number of officials and senior representatives from various countries at the “Prayer Breakfast”, the Secretary of State set aside time to meet with Minister Hyseni. The meeting was behind closed doors tete-a-tete.

In the meeting, Minister Hyseni and Secretary Clinton talked in general about developments in and around Kosovo, especially recognitions, the process at the International Court of Justice and steps that need to be taken to move Kosovo forward.

The Minister used the meeting to inform Secretary Clinton about the significant attempts at state building which are taking place. But in addition, this meeting was also used to discuss several of Kosovo’s concerns relating to regional cooperation, especially the boycott of Kosovo in various fields, about which Secretary Clinton was well informed.

Secretary Clinton and Minister Hyseni agreed that there have been many significant achievements in various fields but that the hard work must continue, in order to progress even further.

Minister Hyseni invited Secretary Clinton to visit Kosovo and she accepted the invitation with great pleasure. Secretary Clinton’s visit is expected to take place this year.
