Belgium: Kosovo will be member of the EU

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci received today in an official meeting the Prime Minister of Kingdom of Belgium Mr. Yves Leterme with whom he discussed bilateral cooperation between Kosovo and Belgium.
 
After that meeting held, Prime Minister Thaci on behalf of the Kosovar Government, and Prime Minister Leterme on behalf of the Belgium-Luxembourg Economic Union signed the Agreement for the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments.
 
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Yves Leterme, in this case has invited Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci for an official visit to Brussels, which Prime Minister Thaci invitation accepted with pleasure.
 
In a press conference after meeting Prime Minister Thaci thanked the Prime Minister Leterme for full support that Belgium has continuously given to Kosovo.
 
Prime Minister Thaci stated vision of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is to deepen cooperation between two countries in all aspects.
 
"The prospect of Kosovo's European perspective. Kosovo will be part of NATO and EU. We're building excellent relations with all countries of the region, and would  be good to have good relations and cooperation with Serbia as two independent states as well, in the service of peace, stability, regional cooperation, the European perspective "- Said the Kosovar Prime Minister.
 
Kosovar Prime Minister informed his Belgian counterpart also about the steps to be taken and will take the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in the process of economic development.
 
"Investors from Belgium are welcome in Kosovo. It's created a good climate for investment, the business, but also new comprehensive opportunities to  invest" - said Prime Minister Thaci by reiterating the invitation to Belgian investors.
 
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Yves Leterme said Belgium is among the first countries that recognized the state of Kosovo, and expressed readiness of his country and to encourage other states to recognize Kosovo.
 
"The future of Kosovo is in the European Union. Although today this way may seem hard and many obstacles, Belgium is ready to help Kosovo in this way. The integration of Western Balkans will not be completed without Kosovo "- z.Leterme said.
 
Belgian Prime Minister Leterme stressed that bilateral relations with Kosovo are excellent and they will be deepened, especially in the field of economy.
 
"Kosovo needs more economic development, more decisions are taken as energy, for the telecom. We will help you and new opportunities that many Belgian companies to invest in Kosovo "- stressed z.Leterme.

Belgium is expected to take over the EU presidency in June of 2010.
