The participants of the Islamic Conference in the holy city of Mecca, who during the past three days have been celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishment, have  unanimously called on all world countries to recognize Kosovo's independence and to support its economic recovery.

The Republic of Kosovo Ambassador to the Kindgom of Saudi Arabia, Rexhep Boja, through a telephone conversation with Koha.net news portal confirmed "that participants of the Conference unanimously supported the request for recognition made by Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs, putting the call for recognition among the conclusions of the meeting."

Kosovar Ambassador Boja delivered to the participants the opinion of the International Court of Justice on independence, which confirms that Kosovo did not violate international law, and a letter by the Republic of Kosovo Foreign Minister Skender Hyseni which calls all Islamic Conference member states to recognize Kosovo.

During the past two weeks, Ambassador Boja has held many meetings with foreign diplomats and representatives of countries accredited to Saudi Arabia, informing them of the ICJ decision and the reality in the young balkan state, Kosovo.
