Dick Marty Refuses To Face European Parliament

Dick Marty

Although the media had announced that Dick Marty would have to face the MP's of the Committee of Foreign Policy of the European Parliament regarding his report on Kosovo, this will most likely not happen today, nor tomorrow.

Koha Ditore has learnt that Dick Marty has refused the request to show up before the MP's on January 17 and 18, saying that he has "a very tight agenda". As a consequence, this appearance has been postponted to another date in February.

However, it is possible that his reason for not accepting to speak in front of the European Parliament is that he wants to wait for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to take place on January 25, where he hopes to gain support for his report on Kosovo. This calculation would then grant him a better position to debate with the MP's of the European Parliament.

The European Parliament is an institution of the European Union and has no affiliation with the Council of Europe, which is more of a general pan-european mechanism that deals with human rights. It would be easier for Dick Marty to gain support in the General Assembly of the Council of Europe, instead of the European Parliament. Russia has a large number of MP's in the Assembly, who together with Serbia's MP's will be solid support for Marty's accussations towards former KLA members.

In his report, Dick Marty has accused Kosovo leaders that they are part of a criminal group who traded organs taken from Serb prisoners, for profit. Recently, officials from the Serbian war crimes prosecutor's office, have admitted that they have fed Marty with information which he has incorporated in his report.

This was obviously propaganda right from the start as you can see from the timing of the article on BBC television news. We have been saying this all along and now the cracks are starting to show.
