European Parliament MP, Ulrike Lunacek, spoke again about her experience during the January 9 elections.
In an article that Indeksonline got a hold of, Lunacek expresses her disappointment in the newest country in the world for not passing the international exam during the elections on December 12 and January 9. Accordingly, these elections were not organized in a democratic manner and in line with international standards.
"In these second elections, there were no riots and violent clashes, and there were many improvements in terms of organization. But in the evening, things changed". She voices her concern whether "after the multiple irregularities with filled ballots, family voting and other manipulations, a parliament and a government with questionable legitimacy will be created, which will consequently threaten the credibility of the international community".
Lunacek has also addressed comments from some politicians in Kosovo, who have stated that "she is not competent to speak at this level". The European MP goes on to write that "despite what is being said, one thing remains certain: that the process was manipulated, that there was intimidation...Like this, Kosovo cannot make a good example.
