Thaci: Come Investigate Us

  • PDF
Outgoing PM Hashim Thaci

Kosovo's outgoing Prime Minister Hashim Thaci has officially demanded that an investigation is initiated over Dick Marty's allegations.

In a letter sent to Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thaci expresses his readiness to assist in this process. But he insists that investigations are done by EULEX, for which he awaits Brussels' green light.

In the letter dated January 13, 2011, Thaci writes:

"I am writing this letter in response to Assembly's report on "inhumane treatment of people and illegal trafficking of human organs in Kosovo", prepared by the Rapporteur of the Assembly, Senator Dick Marty. Given that the report contains a number of serious charges, I believe that these should not remain unanswered. For this reason, as a human being and as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, I use this opportunity to urge all competent authorities, in particular EULEX, to do everything possible to discover what happened" Thaci writes.

"I consider that it is of outmost importance that investigations begin as soon as possible" says the letter signed by Thaci.

He concludes saying that "furthermore, I strongly offer all the guarantees that the Kosovo government will cooperate filly in connection with investigations conducted by EULEX over these allegations".
