North Is Dangerous, Says EULEX

  • PDF
EULEX

EULEX has classified the north of the country as a 'dangerous zone' for its members, asking them be very careful in this part of Kosovo. According to a document released by EULEX, the European mission wants to keep its police force under control and know where they are situated at all times.

This decision could have been dictated by the recent incidents that took place days ago, where in two separate occasions four EULEX policemen and a member of OSCE were beaten by unkown persons in the north of Mitrovica.

According to the same document, EULEX members who travel across Kosovo's northern municipalities (bordering Serbia) - Zubin Potok, Zvecan, Leposavic, other side of the Ibar River and Gates 1 and 31, must abide by the new rules brought to power after the incidents in the north of Mitrovica. In case they cross the Ibar River and go to the North, EULEX members must carry with them their cell phones and radios and must have them connected to the network at all times.
