Bajram Rexhepi

Since EULEX declared northern Kosovo a dangerous area, due to the changing security situation, Interior Minister, Bajram Rexhepi has publicly asked the mission to withdraw from the north.

"The situation in Mitrovica has changed and if EULEX is not able to operate there, they should withdraw their forces from there. KFOR and the Kosovo Police will take care of the safety aspect", Rexhepi told the daily Koha Ditore.

EULEX spokeswoman, Kristina Herodes said that the decision to classify the North as a dangerous zone was taken after assessing the latest security situation in that part.

"All international missions have safety rules, which are constantly revised based on changing security situations and all members of the mission are informed, which is as a matter of routine", Herodes said.

EULEX has set new rules for its members, affecting their circulation in the north of the Ibar River. /telegrafi/
