Djindjic Planned Kosovo Partition

Zoran Djindjic

Former Prime Minister of Serbia and member of the Democratic Party (DS), Zoran Zivkovic, said there have been plans to partition Kosovo since the early 2000.

In an interview with the Belgrade weekly 'Vreme', Zivkovic said that the first government after the Milosevic era "would fall anyway, even if Zoran Djindjic was not killed".

He told the weekly that "a plan was devised during Djindjic's time" in power, which some lawmakers had opposed.

"The plan was this: allow the peaceful separation of Montenegro, and insist on partitioning of Kosovo. Later, in December 2002, the implementation of all these plans would start: deal with crime, with Milorad Ulemek (known as "Legija") and others, restore order within the Army, whereas I would become Minister of Defense in 2003", said Zivkovic.

"The plan was met with some resistance from two or three deputy ministers, several ministers and Kostunica's cabinet (at that time president of Yugoslavia). Even some media were against it", declared Zivkovic./zeri/

Kosovo Government doesn't have ,never had nor will it ever have Norh Mitrovica. This is a reality that Pristina has to accept. EU is not united on Kosovo nor is the world. Recogniton of the so called state has not even reached the half way mark which says that most countries still recognize Kosovo as a part of Serbia. This Kosovo will never become a EU member or a member of UN until some kind of agreement is reached, Serbia simply won't allow this to happen.

Nikola, if you think that Kosova is going to give up north Mitrovica, you are hallucinating. North Mitrovica is a part of Kosova and it will always be. Not that only Kosovar leaders will not allow this, but also European leaders wouldn't either because they do not want to change borders in Europe. And that is the end of the story... that's where it ends and that's where it stays!!

I think that partition will be the only solution. As much as Belgrade and Pristina will not admit it i believe both would accept it. North Kosovo was never under Pristina control and Belgrade did agree that it would not rule south of the Ibar. Without somekind of agreement nor Kosovo or Serbia can become a member of EU and Kosovo cannot become a UN member which blocks it from playing sports under the name Kosovo in Football and Olympics, South Sudan will become a member of UN before this Kosovo will. Over all the situation has to change and life on the ground will need to improve for everyone that includes freedom of movement , less corruption crossing borders without having to change plates and alot more. Pristina needs to give up something it really doesn't have (North Kosovo)
and Belgrade has to give up rest of Kosovo again which it doesn't have sovereignty over I believe this is the only viable solution.
