U.S. Ambassador Christopher Dell said that he believes the new government will be formed before independence day on February 17.
“This is an important event for Kosovo. It is of a symbolic importance to have a new, functional government on the third anniversary. And yes, I believe this is possible. I believe that the party that will be mandated to form the government will be able to do so very soon”, he said in a interview given to ‘Kosova Sot’.
Ambassador Dell said he would prefer a government which has a clear and coherent agenda, which knows what it wants to do, which knows why and how it wants to do it. “The problem with coalitions is that there is no focal point. So many views should be accommodated, that often lack coherence to be able to govern effectively. I think this applies to the last government – there was no common view.”
According to the ambassador, the idea of a having a technical government that would remain in power for a few months until new elections are held, is a grave error. “First of all, it is not in accordance with the Constitution. The Constitution offers the possibility to have elections and a government that emerges from these elections, based on the number of MP’s in the Assembly. The Constitution does not foresee a technical government as a solution”. /kohaditore/
