Acting President Krasniqi Can Mandate Thaci As Prime Minister

  • PDF
Jakup Krasniqi

The next prime minster can obtain the mandate to form the government by Jakup Krasniqi, Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo.

In an interview for “Express”, Krasniqi said that this action has no legal or constitutional impediment. If this procedure would be applied, Kosovo would first get a new prime minister and cabinet, and later a president with a five-year mandate.

“I say once again, there are no legal or constitutional obstacles to prevent me from mandating the future Prime Minister of Kosovo. I have no legal obstacles. I can do it. But I need to consult again to find out which is the best way. Maybe I will consult with the political parties about this matter. But I have no obstacles’’, Krasniqi said.

Whether it will be Krasniqi the one who will mandate Hashim Thaci to form the new government, or whether this task will be left to the new president, is yet to be clarified. /kohaditore & express/
