The Sultanate of Oman became the 75th country to recognize Kosovo's independence on Friday by forging diplomatic relations with the government in Prishtina.

The Republic of Kosovo has established diplomatic relations with the Sultanate of Oman", Kosovo's deputy foreign minister Vlora Citaku, told reporters.

She added that the the Gulf state sent a letter to Kosovo's embassy in London requesting the official establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Oman's move was the second recognition of Kosovo from the Gulf region this year, following a similar move by Qatar, the foreign ministry said.
