The State Department's top European affairs expert says the relative quiet and political success of Kosovo since February has silenced critics who forecast dire scenarios for the region, including ethnic violence and refugee flows.

Former United Nations special envoy for Kosovo status negotiations Albert Rohan in an interview for Radio Free Europe said that he supports the idea of re-starting talks between Prishtina and Belgrade, but only on practical issues.

The american expert on the Balkans, Daniel P. Serwer, during an interview for Voice of America  stated that "it is clear that Serbia is disallowing the participation of Serbs in Kosovo institutions, because their program is to divide Kosovo."

Kosovo papers report that the U.S., Great Britain and France have expressed great reservations over the American Richard Wilcox being appointed UNMIK deputy chief.
