Austria recognizes Kosovo
VIENNA - The Austrian government announced on Wednesday that it will recognize the independence of Kosovo, even if formal recognition was set to be announced only next week.

"I recommended to the government today to take the necessary steps to recognise Kosovo," Austria Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik said in a statement.

Norway to recognize Kosovo
Oslo - Norway on Wednesday joined a number of countries recognizing the breakaway Serb province of Kosovo as an independent state, Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store said.

Store cited 'several reasons' for the decision, including the belief that 'further talks' were unlikely to result in an agreement on Kosovo's status between Serbia and Kosovo.

PRISHTINË - The commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization-led peacekeeping Kosovo Force, or KFOR, Wednesday held minority Serb leaders in northern Kosovo responsible for Tuesday's torching of two border crossings with Serbia.
