UNMIK head Joachim Rücker is reported to have prepared a reply to the letter from Serbian Minister for Kosovo Slobodan Samardzic but has not sent it as yet. UNMIK officials are quoted as saying that UNMIK will neither help nor hinder the holding of Serbian parliamentary elections in Kosovo, reports Zëri.

United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon has announced that the issue of Kosovo will be one of the main issues he will discuss whilst in Moscow.

“Actually the situation on the ground is very calm, but it is absolutely necessary that the international community and both interested sides do everything to maintain peace and stability,” Ban told UN Radio before leaving for Moscow.

He reiterated that UNMIK will continue to act in Kosovo according to the Resolution 1244.

Serbian elections in Kosovo
While Quint representatives (France, Italy, Germany, the UK and the U.S.) and the Government of Kosovo basically agree that Serbian elections should be allowed to be held in Kosovo on May 11, there is disagreement over whether Serbian local elections should be held on the same day as the parliamentarian poll.
