The Troika The Troika has finalized the report on Kosovo status negotiations and it will hand it to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon on Friday. The news was announced by the Russian mediator Alexander Botsan-Kherchenko.
“In my opinion, this is a neutral document. We count on the Security Council of the UN to analyze it in an objective way and based on that to develop an objective discussion,” Kherchenko has told Russian news agency Ria Novosti.According to him, the report gathers an assortment of facts from the work of Troika and that which has been discussed during negotiations, and the stances of the two sides. “Despite the disagreements, which will continue to remain so even in the future discussions regarding status, we as Troika have strived to work in one line, to single out that which is more important and common to all,” said Kharchenko, adding that all three members of the Troika have agreed on the text. The report will be discussed on 19 December at the Security Council. Afterwards it is expected that the ambassadors of the 15 countries of this organ will have a special meeting with Ban Ki Moon as well. Kosovo will be on the agenda of the Security Council once again this year, when UNMIK chief Joachim Ruecker will present his regular report. |
