Illegal parallel structures dissolve in Shterpcë

ImageThe new Kosovar mayor of Municipality of Shterpcë, Bratisllav Nikoliq has taken his first step in establishing the legitimate municipal administration in accordance with the constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and dissolution of illegal parallel structures financed by Serbia.

Bratisllav Nikoliq, the new mayor of Shterpcë Municipality, who won the Kosovo municipality elections held on November 15, 2009, after his inauguration 2 days ago, has changed the locks of doors of the municipal offices which were usurped by Serbian illegal parallel structures. At all nine offices, located across the municipal main building, yesterday began the legitimate administration work in this municipality.

The dissolution of Serbian illegal parallel structures in Shterpcë marks the beginning of integration of Serb minority into Kosovar society which certainly enables them prosperity and bright future in Kosovo state.

Local media report no incidents during the dissolution of the Serbian illegal parallel structures.

Botanic Garden at Mali i Sharrit

ImageMinister of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Kosovo, Mahir Yağcılar,  during today's meeting with the mayor of Theranda Blerim Kuqi, discussed the help and support that the Ministry can provide to Theranda Municipality for the implementation of various environmental projects, particularly the project of Botanical Garden in Mount Sharr.
 
The Minister briefed Therandës Yağcılar road project Therandė-Shtërpcë and requested that he be incorporated in the draft Spatial Plan of the Mali i Sharrit National Park. He also briefed the Minister on the project idea to build a Botanic Garden in the Mali i Sharrit.
 
The Spatial Plan of the National Park of Sharr Mountain, includes in itself a substantial part of the territory of the Municipality of Theranda.

University of Ljubljana provides postgraduate studies on economics in Kosovo

ImageThe Republic of Kosovo Minister of Education, Hoxhaj with cooperators hosted the Dean of Ljubljana Faculty of Economics Mr. Dushan Mramor and the adviser of Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo Mr. Boshtjan Jazbec.

The purpose of Dean's visit is the offer that University of Ljubljana made to MEST for post graduate study program in Faculty of Economics.

Mr. Dushan Mramor, informed Minister Hoxhaj and Ms. Ferdie Zushi about the program which in case of accreditation and with MEST's approval will be applied in future in Kosovo.

Ministr Hoxhaj said that Ministry of Education Science and Technology welcome such programs, especially those from prestigious Universities like University of Ljublajana. Hoxhaj informed Dean Mramor with proceedings of processes in Higher Education in Kosovo aiming Bologna processes and he added that Government of Kosovo have decided that soon will be established another Public University, in Prizren, where would be developed different programs mainly on economic subjects that would fulfill the lack of cadre firstly in private sector of business.

University of Ljubljana cooperates with many institutions of different countries in region and further.

According to Mr. Mramor, in Kosovo except the offered program, a staff (professors) from Sllovenia would come to offer their professional knowledge. In this meeting was present also Mr. Avdulla Alija Director of Department for Higher Education in MEST.

Ministry organizes Governance Working Group for European Integration of Kosovo

ImageThe fourth meeting of the Governance Working Group for European Integration, was chaired by acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kosovo, Florian Dushi.

This working group takes part in European Integration structures and working groups, which were approved by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo last year.

Spectrum of the mandate of the Governance Working Group for European Integration consists of five areas, which are: political criteria, judiciary, including the fundamental rights, justice, freedom and security, foreign relations, foreign and security policy and defense.

In this meeting Mr. Dushi stressed that "as in other working groups the Governance Working Group as the basis of its work has been monitoring and implementing the Partnership Action Plan (EPAP), as well as addressing the challenges and recommendations".

Members of the Governance Working Group, have received the document containing strategic priorities for European Integration in 2010, and actions that are proposed for their achievement during 2010 from Third meeting of the Ministerial Council for European Integration that was held last month.

The main purpose of this meeting was that after the analysis of these actions by the members, to make  selection and approval for implementation of strategic priorities for European Integration for 2010 that could be realized from respective institutions during this period of time.

Participants of this group are experts from the Office of the Prime Minister, from all ministries of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Agency for Coordination of European integration and Development, Kosovo Judicial Council, Prosecutors office  of Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency, the Ombudsperson, the Kosovo Judicial Institute, etc.

Kosovo Customs with European standards

ImageThe finacially assisted by European Union of the construction of Kosovar state Border Police and Customs buildings in Glloboçicë at the border crossing with FYR of Macedonia has been completed in the cost value of about half a million Euros.

The construction of the Republic of Kosovo Border Police and Customs building is part of the €1 million project, which also includes construction of the Railway Border Police and Customs station building at Han i Elezit and a bridge at Bllacë border crossing point.

The customs activities at Glloboçicë were previously carried out in containers. The modern building constructed according to EU standards will enable that the activities of Customs and Border Police are carried out safely and effectively.

This project presents continuation of EU support to the Republic of Kosovo Police and Customs. Last year another project was completed consisting of construction of two Border Police and Customs station buildings in the border points with Albania, Qafa e Morines and Qafa e Prushit in Gjakova municipality and refurbishment of Vërmicë border crossing buiding. The value of this project was also about €1 million.

Upgrading infrastructure at border crossings is one of three components prepared under an EU project to support the transfer of responsibilities from international to local police, develop border management in accordance with Schengen standards and review current applicable legislation.
