Thats a great and i would also suggest our politicians utilise this one as a manifesto of our identity toward the western countries, especially islamic countries which still are thoughtful to decide or afraid to oppose the russian influencial ambtions .

If I may add another point to very concise article by the authors.
Kosova is far more better of today than during 90-ties. Yet, during 90-ties which were times of hardship for Kosovar people, humanitarian relief arrived from both Western and Arab & Islamic NGO-s (and I suppose respective governments indirectly). These assistance helped kosovar people to survive those difficults time. Now, in this day and age, when kosovar people gathered the force to stand on there own feet, Arab and other muslim states should do the final gesture of solidarity with kosovar poeple - recognise kosovar peoples right to live free on their own country, recognize Republic of Kosovo.
As for answer to the questions mentioned by Jesse like "whats in it form me", I would like to offer an answer - Recognizing Kosovo's independence and welcoming Kosovo in the family of soverign and free nations is a great opportunity for Arab and muslim countries to work with the Western countries based upon universal values and refute thesis that western and islamic civilizations have inreparable diffrences and are heading for collision. Kosovo proves the opposite. It is possible for country with muslim majority to be democratic, free and in good relations with both West and East. - kujtimk

This commentary is indeed a great observation of today’s attempts by Serbia and Russia to block Kosovo’s recognition by the Muslim countries. It also reflects with great accuracy the past century continuous Serbian attempts to ethnically cleanse Albanian lands. She succeeded in many regions of today’s southern Serbia.
If one takes a nostalgic journey through the pages of National Geographic Magazine around the beginning of twentieth century you can see Albanian villager’s working on their farmland around Belgrade. But that is all gone in the smoke during the brutal and bloody campaigns that Serbia waged against the local indigenous population.
These facts are well documented for those who care to do the right thing. But that’s not how the Muslim world operates today.
This “heads of the states” make decisions not based on high morale grounds and the aspiration of their people but rather on “what is in for them”.
A recent commentary by a Bangladeshi an why his country has not recognized Kosovo yet is great example. He asks his government to explain why is not in the national interest
Of Bangladesh to recognize Kosovo. He eloquently shows the similarities between Kosovars and Bangladeshis in their suffering on their quest for statehood. I doubt he will ever get a respond.
Russian petrol-dollars and Serbian dirty lobbing has succeeded in more cases that we will ever know. Kosovo politician Sshould keep this in mind and find adequate ways to fight it .The truth and justice is Kosovo’s side. Little creative approach could go along way on removing Serbian and Russian dirty politics.

This article is a great article with great points and very emotional quotes. Surely these quotes to my belief have been said many times by Serbians chauvinists before. I'de like to say that Islamic and no matter the religion, these countries should not only support Kosova's independence because of our same share of religion but instead of knowing that clearly Serbia has kept Kosova and all of the ex-Yugoslavia behind by closing down the schools, taking away freedome of speech, keeping the people of Kosova and ex-Yugoslavia behind closed doors in the shadows to have power over of those country citizens, to keep them affraid for the soul purpose to have these citizens work for cheap or no labour, taking adavantage and exploiting the great natural resources that the lands of the those of hundreds of thousands died to protect and only wanting freedome and equality. Those who have yet to recognize Kosova should have in mind by a clear far distance Serbias care for destruction and genocideacle goals for hunger for power and to keep its citizens rich and free. Not to blame all Serbians who fall for propaganda but to bllame those that created the propaganda to confuse and misslead people. - Blerim

This article has good political reasoning and should be a wake up call for Muslims from other countries regarding the recognition of Kosova's independence. But we must be cautious not to forsake our cultural identity for an Islamic one! - Mark (Shqype)

Gentlemen

Thank you for making an effort to argue on behalf of our new county, and a good attempt it seems.

I have some reservations towards the approach that we should be recognised because the russians or the serbs are not friends of the muslim world. The muslim world, to our surprise, needs to learn that, though I should have thought they knew who the serbs and the russians have been throughout history not only to muslims but to any that was not a orthodox slav. I like the idea that Kosovo ha become the trampoline upon which humnitarian values have prevailed over what are known as religious or nationalist rules. Nationalist serbs must be finding hard to believe that their tactics have become ineffective.

Albanians have moved on, have understood the market economy, and are becoming day by day more effective in creating their own spiritual world that no longer need the alien rituals of muslims or christians, or whomever thinks they can come and create armies of blind followers as they did in the early 90s in both Albania and Kosova. Even then, I remember discusssing with people who talked out the opportunities that working with or becoming a member os such organisations created for people to immigrate ou Albania and Kosovo for better financial oppotunities.

Bravo, Bravo.

very well written. If I were a Kosovar political figure, i would print this out. I would carry it in my backpocket when i go out lobbying in the muslim world for recognition. I would do that since i would have no knowledge on how to win people for the cause of Kosova. Bravo, bravo.

thank you.
