Since you just came back from Kosovo, 'Professor' Perritt, I would like to know if any progress has been made to identify and punish the perpetrators of pogrom conducted on the remaining Serb population in 2004? Likewise, has any progress made in bringing back displaced Roma, Bosnjaks, Serbs, and other non-Albanians?

Professor Perritt has almost completely ignored the 90 civil society groups that comprise Kosovo women's Network, an umbrella organisation that works exhaustively at all levels of Kosovoar society around the issues facing Kosovars (of all stripes) since the early 1990s. it is sad to see that this is so, when such groups are ever present in the new state and network regularly and extensively with municipal and central government. in fact some of those in govenrment, but obviously not Professor Perritt's "old friends" are there because of their early work within such organisations. Alongside these women's organisation (some of which also have male participants) are the many think-tanks and research groups of young priofessionals working on political and social issues. It is easy to connect with such groups but it does require getting outside the 'western' assumptions of where one goes to meet such groups - ie beyond the Hotel grand and coffee shops around the national Assembly precinct and into the nooks and crannies of Kosovar communities, the back alleys and so on. I hope Professor Perritt takes this step and sees that much more is being done than he clearly imagines!!!! - Lynne Alice
