So, from all of these people that have supposedly read UN SC Resolution 1244/99, they had clause after sub-clause to show how Albanians failed in living up to the resolution obligations, yet could not even mention ONE SINGLE FAILURE BY THE SERBS????? :)

This is what they call true bias and blindness.

GO ahead and think "Oh, Albanians have never tried for greater autonomy in Yugoslavia."
"Oh, Albanian terrorist don't respect human life, only Serbian soldiers have the highest regard for human life."
"Serbia always tried to negotiate with the Albanians, we even let them vote in our constitutional referendum, because Kosova is Serbia, and the people of Kosova are Serbian citizens..."
"Oh, there are absolutely no terrorist in Serbia, or war criminals which are awaiting trial at the Hague! Because Serbians don't have to go to the Hague, we have the heart of Doves."

This is all laughable. And in case you didn't catch on, I was being sarcastic. And as long as the Serbs are protecting their own war criminals, they can all just sit down and shut up, because they have no right to be breathing.

If you really care about human rights, and resolutions, finish your part and advocate the Serbian government to bring these monsters to justice. But until that day comes, you are just a disgrace to the human race. Your ignorance shows how you fear them even going on trial in the Hague. Your ignorance shows how you have absolutely no sympathy, or empathy, or let alone compassion. Will will never know those words, especially knowing how little you value human life, as apposed to a fucking piece of land, that you have never even step foot on. You want to cry over land? I'll give you a napkin. But don't dare think the Albanians didn't seek simply greater autonomy when all of their human rights were stripped on day in 1988.

As long as you remain so racist, and greedy, Always wanting more, always pushing for a smaller piece of the pie, you will never be happy. Go watch a football game or something, and go throw a stone at the referee. It's the best thing you know how to do anyways. - Azdren Coma

TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY OF STATES - Failed due to kosovo illegal declaration of independence!

The participating States will respect the territorial integrity of each of the participating States.

Accordingly, they will refrain from any action inconsistent with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations against (resolution 1244) the territorial integrity, political independence or the unity of any participating State, and in particular from any such action constituting a threat or use of force.

The participating States will likewise refrain from making each other's territory the object of military occupation or other direct or indirect measures of force in contravention of international law, or the object of acquisition by means of such measures or the threat of them. No such occupation or acquisition will be recognized as legal.

PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES - Failed. albanians have never been willing to negotiate terms for autonomy!

The participating States will settle disputes among them by peaceful means in such a manner as not to endanger international peace and security, and justice.

They will endeavour in good faith and a spirit of co-operation to reach a rapid and equitable solution on the basis of international law.

For this purpose they will use such means as negotiation, enquiry, mediation, conciliation, arbitration, judicial settlement or other peaceful means of their own choice including any settlement procedure agreed to in advance of disputes to which they are parties.

In the event of failure to reach a solution by any of the above peaceful means, the parties to a dispute will continue to seek a mutually agreed way to settle the dispute peacefully.

Participating States, parties to a dispute among them, as well as other participating States, will refrain from any action which might aggravate the situation to such a degree as to endanger the maintenance of international peace and security and thereby make a peaceful settlement of the dispute more difficult.

NON-INTERVENTION IN INTERNAL AFFAIRS - Failed. Nato clearly intervened in Serbia's internal affairs

The participating States will refrain from any intervention, direct or indirect, individual or collective, in the internal or external affairs falling within the domestic jurisdiction of another participating State, regardless of their mutual relations.

They will accordingly refrain from any form of armed intervention or threat of such intervention against another participating State.

They will likewise in all circumstances refrain from any other act of military, or of political, economic or other coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by another participating State of the rights inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind.

Accordingly, they will, inter alia, refrain from direct or indirect assistance to terrorist activities, or to subversive or other activities directed towards the violent overthrow of the regime of another participating State. - helsinki final act

Here is just a small exert from resolution 1244.
It clearly states that kosovo is to remain autonomous and not independent!
It also clearly shows the many breaches from the Albanian authority.

================

Authorizes the Secretary-General, with the assistance of relevant international organizations, to establish an international civil presence in Kosovo in order to provide an interim administration for Kosovo under which the people of Kosovo can enjoy substantial AUTONOMY WITHIN THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF YUGOSLAVIA, and which will provide transitional administration while establishing and overseeing the development of provisional democratic self-governing institutions to ensure conditions for a peaceful and normal life for all inhabitants of Kosovo;
THIS CLEARLY STATES THAT KOSOVO IS NOT INDEPENDENT.

Protecting and promoting human rights.
FAILED - DUE TO CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY FROM THE ALBANIAN TERRORISTS

Establishing a secure environment in which refugees and displaced persons can return home in safety, the international civil presence can operate, a transitional administration can be established, and humanitarian aid can be delivered.
FAILED - TO DATE THE ALBANIAN MAJORITY HAVE BEEN VIOLENT, UNWELCOMING AND HAS COMMITTED ETHNIC CLEANSING ON THE SERBIAN MINORITY!

Ensuring public safety and order until the international civil presence can take responsibility for this task;
FAILED - AGAIN DUE TO ALBANIAN HATRED TOWARDS SERBS

Assuring the safe and unimpeded return of all refugees and displaced persons to their homes in Kosovo;
FAILED - AGAIN FOR THE SAME REASONS MENTIONED ABOVE.

Safe and free return of all refugees and displaced persons under the supervision of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and unimpeded access to Kosovo by humanitarian aid organizations.
FAILED

Emphasizes the need for coordinated humanitarian relief operations, and for the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to allow unimpeded access to Kosovo by humanitarian aid organizations and to cooperate with such organizations so as to ensure the fast and effective delivery of international aid
FAILED - ALBANIANS DID NOT APPROVE RUSSIAN AID TO SERBS

@RON

Sorry Mr. You are wrong. Kosova is no longer a serbian province, it is an independent state since February 17th 2008.

And I am surprised people like you even have the guts to invoke UN SC Resolution 1244/99 to support your argument. Yes, 1244 is still in force, have you read it though?! I doubt it. Because if you read closely in that resolution, you will find that even with Kosova's independence from the 'Federal Yugoslav Republic' (as resolution 1244 refers to).
Forget the fact that no where in the resolution does the resolution guarantee any territorial sovereignty to Serbia itself, but the serbs themselves neglect to ever mention the fact that they have not lived up on their obligations within the resolution.
And when you do not recognize the resolution for YOUR OWN OBLIGATIONS within the UN SC resolution 1244/99, then you yourself have no argument basis for using the resolution as a reference.
If you are unsure what Serbian (um, FRY) obligations are, then I suggest you READ THE RESOLUTION! - Azdren Coma

The Serbs are the only ones who speak about "Greater this" or "Greater that", because they are seeking another accomplice to violate the borders of 1945, since it didn't work out quite well with Tuđman. But no one will get along with that.

If the Serbians want part of Kosova, they will have to negotiate as equal partners with the democratic Kosovan government, and exchange it for the Presheva valley : that is the only way to do it, and they won't because all they want is to grab as much real estate as possible, with no concern at all for the 80,000 Serbs who live south of the Ibar. - Sebaneau

@ azdren: I wonder how patient and polite you are trying to be, with people as Mr. Giovani Ventura. If he likes or dislikes Albanians and Dardanias is up to him. That’s his choice and I don’t care. The problem starts when he is trying to paint Albanian in black, with a broad brush. With the strategy, he said, she said, he is forging lies and is serving these to the audience as true things. For the persons who are not afraid to lie, the only way to react is to provide facts. After centuries left in the dark, and almost buried under the ground, from the Serbian Chauvinism, Racism and Terrorism, Dardanians fought back, persisted and won their independence.
http://www.hartford-hwp.com/archives/62/094.html
The Slavic Socialism enabled Serbia, under the Milosevic regime, to rise to power on a platform of anti-Albanian racism, to brutally occupy Kosova for ten years, and to wage four wars of conquest in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosova that left hundred of thousands, and more than two million homeless, not counting tens of thousand raped woman, and millions displaced internally or externally by Serbian army, police and paramilitary.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=732fXiIcvWQ
http://www.gendercide.org/case_kosovo.html
Only in Kosova, Serbia's military, paramilitary and police forces killed over 12,000 unarmed civilians, raped approximately 20,000 women, kidnapped over 3,000 people, a considerable number of whom are still missing, destroyed or damaged over 119,855 houses and seriously damaged the economy of KOSOVA. Serb forces have forcibly expelled near 1,000,000 Albanian Kosovars from KOSOVA, not counting 500,000 Internally Displaced used as human shield by Serbian troops, and more…(Around 90 % of the population are ethnic Dardanian, Serbian population accounted for 7 %).

Serbia was and is the troublemker of Balkans.
Kosovo Isn’t the Problem, Serbia Is
Testimony of Vice President for Post-Conflict Peace and Stability Operations Daniel Serwer before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
March 4, 2008
http://www.usip.org/congress/testimony/2008/0304_serwer.html
This is a part of his Testimony “IN QUOTES”.
“…Belgrade is trying to turn back the clock
While Albanians celebrate, Serbs are protesting. Serb police supported rioters who burned UN and Kosovo police checkpoints near the now international border. Serbia’s minister for Kosovo hailed these efforts as consonant with government policy, thus disrespecting UN Security Council resolution 1244, to which Belgrade often appeals, and causing Kosovo Serbs to ask him to resign. Young extremists attacked the U.S. and other embassies, left unguarded during a government-endorsed demonstration. There have also been riots outside Belgrade, as well as attacks on independent media.
The Serbian government is trying to turn back the clock. Parliament, where no Kosovar has sat since Milosevic deprived the province of autonomy almost 20 years ago, announced it had annulled the independence declaration and declared deployment of an EU mission to maintain rule of law unacceptable. The Supreme Court failed to act when the Serbian government struck Kosovars from the voter rolls to ensure approval of a new constitution prohibiting recognition of Kosovo’s independence, but it quickly denounced the independence declaration as illegal.
The Prime Minister praised the youthful rioters after the U.S. embassy attack, accused the President of the United States of violence against Serbia and claimed, “As long as the Serbian people exist, Kosovo remains Serbia,” no matter what its population wants. Serbia’s ambassador to Washington has been recalled. Serbia’s president has pledged he will never accept Kosovo independence. One of its leading bishops has called for the Serbian army and police to retake Kosovo, after rearming with Russian supplies. Belgrade has encouraged secession rumblings in the Serb half of Bosnia.
The situation in northern Kosovo is particularly dangerous. If NATO and the EU allow continued Serbian control there—as the UN and NATO have for nine years—there will be division along ethnic lines, with consequences for Bosnia and Macedonia. Pristina cannot assert sovereignty in the north without creating big problems; the EU and NATO need to do it on Pristina’s behalf, blocking Belgrade’s partition plans.
Serbia is the problem.””
Regarding the future, the only thing I can say is:
With a much stronger over populated China and an empty Siberia, the future of Russia looks grim.

@Giovanni:
I am glad that you have visited South Servia and Kosova in May. I wonder if you thought about visiting when the Serbs were still in control of Kosova pre-99.

You are skewing my words. I am warning to the partitioning of Kosova, as this will inevitably lead to the partitioning of other parts of Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Greece. But that is not what I am advocating.

As much as Obama is pro-Serbian, he is first and foremost an American. His foreign policy will be dictated in the State Departments 20-year plan, all Bush signed treaties will remain in force, especially the ones to arm the new Kosova army, and supply Kosova with heavy arms. We will enjoy our NEWBORN, because it is not about the west giving in to Russia, and selling Kosova back to Servia. In your logic, the Serbs sold a lot of territory to the west, just like Slovenia (current EU presidency), and Croatia which a day after they recognize Kosova flew their airline into Prishtina for the first time.

Yes, a lot of it has to do with money, but that is also why the Balkan's largest sky scraper will be in Prishtina.

As for the taxi cab comment, I agree, the best thing that ever happened to the Albanians is their right to self-determination, so they don't have to be oppressed by the serbs anymore. The same goes for the Macedonians whom gained independence from the Serbs a while ago, and for the Croats, and Bosnians, and Montenegrans, and Slovenes, etc... Everyone simply want their god given right to self determination.

And yes Giovanni, it is sad that Albanians are in conflict with all of its neighbors. But Giovanni, looking back at history, at least I can say this: Unlike Serbia, we are not like Nokia, getting smaller by the day. Unlike Serbia, we did not start 4 wars just to lose every single one of them. Just like Kurdistan (which doesn't exist today), they have problems with the Syrians, the Iraqi's the Iranians and the Turks, because way back in the day after WWI ended, the Kurds didn't get the state they deserve. When the Ottoman Empire broke apart, Albania was split into Yugoslavia, and Greece. Just like any other nation in the world where the people have lost the right to self determination, there will be conflict. But Kosova gained independence, we are moving in the right direction.

As for your comment about Kosova being a pawn of the west, its true. But we love it. Camp Bondsteel is sugar to our tongues.

And just as the taxi driver said, the Albanians are much happier without them too. And it's good that you say that Servia will recognize Kosova, and they will realize they are better off without Kosova. That is what we were trying to say this whole time.

About the 'less crime, and less drug trafficking.' After neglect from the Yugoslavian central government for years in the control of the socilist, Kosova has much to heal. The drug traffiking peaked when Slobodan was in power, and the unenployment jumped with the milosevic coming into power, firing all Albanian local politicians, college professors, factory workers, bus drivers, and giving all those jobs to ethnic slavs only. No wonder there was so much high crime and unemployment. But we will heal. And Kosova will grow.

@azdren your words are not peacefull,I think that you want to go to war for "Greater Albania"...but be careful on what you wish because, there is a CHANGE coming,Serbs will form pro western government and push strongly to EU integrations with lot of help from France,Germany and Great Britain even if they recognise "kosova", in USA, Barrack Obama ,next US president is pro-serbian,he said that in several occasions and do not forget that Russia is geting stronger as we speak. So...enjoy your independence NEWBORN while you can...there is no loyalty in international relations. Western countries can sold you easily back to Serbia if they conclude that it is better for them to have good relations with Russia then to fight it over Kosovo.
Next thing...I was in Skopje in may and Macedonian taxi cab driver told me one remarkable sentence, that the best thing ever that happened to Serbia is independance of kosova, because Serbs dont live with Albanians any more.
And Azdren...it strikes me that, Albanians are in conflict with every each of one of their neighbors...is that normal,that Albanians have problems with every nation thay border with? Montenegrins,Serbs,Macedonians,Greeks? It is time for you Albanians to start thinking about yourself and mistakes you made and why do you have so much unsolved problems with your neighbors. Until than you are stuck in limbo...EU is 500km away,they will give you money,and all of that money will go to your political elite and criminals around them. EULEX will come,take the money and left,NATO will move to Irak and Afganistan. And in 10y all of your economy will be in foreign hands, you will have hymn that was forced upon you,flag that is forced upon you,lightly armed 2500 men strong army, and no fottball team playing in EURO 2020 and you will still be poor talking about UNIFICATION, about how many countries rocognised you and that you will be members of UN next september of 2018 and member of EU in 2025...and no one will care about Kosovo,just as they do not care about somaliland or pridnestrovlije....because Russia and West will cooperate once again in full strength. For now Kosovo is just a godd opportunity for usa and EU to put pressure on Russia,but any time soon those thing can and will change...
Reading much of comments on this biased site...i think that, the Macedonian taxi cab driver was right and that Serbs are happier without Albanians. And in the end...SERBIA WILL RECOGNISE INDEPENDENCE OF KOSOVA just give them some time to realise that they are way off better without Kosova, they are richer without Kosova, that they will have less problems without Kosova,less unemployed,less crime rate,less drug trafiking,and that they will enter EU before and faster without Kosova...
Best wishes NEWBORN from Giovanni Ventura,Roma
PS i ve been in Kosova and South Serbia in may,i saw how kosovars live and i know what i am talking about... - Giovanni

Frankly speaking, I see no problem in partitioning Kosova. If the Serbs do not want to be a part of a modern Kosova, with the Ahtisari plan implemented to the fullest, giving them a great amount of autonomy, then I think they should definitely become a part of serbia. After all, no one wants a citizen in a democratic state whom is not going to participate in the society and will rebel at every chance given to do so. If the Serbs in the north decide to, let them become part of Serbia again.

But here is the catch. If this is about splitting a country along ethnic lines, then do it fairly and properly.

If Northern Kosova splits and joins Servia, expect Western Macedonia to also split and Join Albania. With roughly 35% of Macedonia being Albanian, it makes a lot of sense for the Albanians to not want to be rules by all the 'ski' ending names in government either.

And there are territories in Southern Serbia which are predominantly Albanian. And in Montenegro. All of these territories which have been Albanian land for thousands of years before any slav step foot on there.

And while we are at it, don't forget Chameria, North-West Greece. With an Albanian population of over 90% in that region, it would make a lot of sense for it to go back to Albania. And even though Greece's government is no where near as lenient as the Ahtisari plan for self determination and autonomy, The Albanians in Chameria and Western Macedonia have more right to want to separate from their respective oppressors..

And let me put it this way. I am a very peaceful person. But if Northern Kosova does separate, I expect nothing less for all the other Albanian territories around the Balkans. So be careful what you wish for Serbians. - Azdren Coma
